Denver Area Access Users Group Online Presentation

FMS President Luke Chung was invited by the Denver Area Access Users Group to give an online presentation on "Access Remote App".

Remote Desktop and RemoteApp let your users run Access applications without having to installing anything on their local machine. That includes Access, the database, and any related programs. It lets users run the program across the network or Internet, from their PC or even a Mac. Luke Chung demonstrated different approaches depending on whether the host is internal or in the cloud, and for backend databases in Access and SQL Server.

Most Microsoft users do not know that the Windows Magnifier exists! This is an easy way to zoom in and out of a screen.

Change Office 365 update cycle to the Monthly Enterprise Channel

Error: "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"

An error was introduced in the Version 2008 (Build 13127.20296) update to Office. The error message "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" occurred when using a program that uses the ODBC interface implemented by the Access Database Engine. This could happen with a custom application, or with the ODBC Data Sources application, when specifying the "Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)".

The issue was fixed in the Version 2009 (Build 16.0.13231.20262) Office update on September 28, 2020. For more information, visit Microsoft's Error: "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" page.

Decimal Field Problems in Microsoft Access Build 12827.20010

Back in June 2020, the Microsoft Access Team announced an issue where Access VBA/DAO code may crash or report incorrect data for Decimal Fields.

The Microsoft Access team announced that the Decimal Field issue has been fixed in all channels.
